I’m Happy But You Don’t Like Me - Asobi Seksu
Ended up leaving Kourts place at around 11am, since I had work at 2. The drive didn’t really feel that long. Listened to a bunch of Asobi Seksu on the way back. Wonder if I’ll ever get the chance to see them in concert again. Anyways, I got there about an hour and a half early, so I went and got myself breakfast at Burger King. When I got to work, I found out that the district management was apparently visiting, so I had to clean my shoes. Instead, I just went out to my car and got some new ones to wear. I think that’s kind of a bullshit policy to have if management visits though. If the store is only going to give us one free pair of shoes ever, then don’t expect the employees to wear perfect shoes at all times.
Well, management never even visited. So dumb. Since there were plenty of people at work on a Tuesday, there was literally nothing to do except walk around. Never been happier that my shift ended. Wells after work, I had to walk back to my car in the pouring rain, which killed my hair. The drive back was pretty bad also, since a few sections of the freeway was flooded. Yay for hydroplaning?
At home, I really didn’t do that much at all except catch up on the internet and sleep.
Yay happy birthday Kourt! She went to class and took her composite pictures, which I sorta just hung around at her dorm. Afterwards, we went out to dinner at BJ’s where she got her first legal drink, which turned out to be a super fruity strawberry thing. I got myself a Snakebite which was pretty amazing. My pulled pork sandwich was amazing as always as well. After dinner, we went home and sort of relaxed and slept!
Didn’t really do all that much today. Woke up and went to go clean up Alex’s house since it was kinda trashed from the party the night before. Afterwards, me and Kourt pretty much just slept most of the day. We went to her chapter meeting which was very ordinary, and afterwards we just went back to her place to sleep some more! Yep, this is what boyfriends and girlfriends do. Sleep.
I did not like this movie. It was not the amazing spectacle that I had expected, especially from seeing all the reviews and hearing the opinions of my friends. So I’m just going to list a bunch of the stuff that I disliked about the movie.
Gale does nothing. In the books, he’s as good of a hunter as Katniss. In the movie, he just throws a rock and that’s all.
Where were Cinna’s 3 helpers? I can’t remember their names blah. I think one of them got a line in the movie, but that’s about it. They play a big role in Mockingjay!
I hated how Rue came and went, in about 5 minutes. They had just formed their little bond, when all of a sudden she was getting stabbed in the chest. I felt that they needed a little more time to develop that relationship. Sure, the people that read the books know their bond, but more character development was needed for people that hadn’t.
Also, while on Rue, no bread from District 11? Bread is such an integral part of the series. It’s a symbol of each District, and it plays a huge role in Catching Fire. Instead, we’re treated to District 11 rioting. Such a random riot as well, especially since there’s been 75 Hunger games and they hadn’t rioted before. (If there had been previous riots, there would have been more peacekeepers)
The mines around the Cornucopia needed to be explained a little further. In the movie, it’s not explained at all how the mines got dug up, who dug them up, and who reburied them.
Katniss and Peeta got together way to fast. First, they don’t explain in the movie why he was with the careers. Second, I don’t think they ever were on really friendly terms in the movie, even before the games started. And third, it seems like Peeta made no romantic effort at all. Bleh
There’s probably some other things I didn’t like about the movie either, but I’m getting too tired to write. Can’t wait till the next movie comes out though. I get to see Finnick!
Finally watched the Hunger Games after so long. I think I’m going to write a movie review on it since I actually read the books and I actually didn’t really like the movie all that much. After watching the movie, me and Kourt kinda just waited around her dorm til her friends from home came over. We went out to go eat at Elephant Bar, and afterwards we went back to her apartment. Kind of had a drama filled night after that, but we ended up having Kourt’s surprise party at Alex’s house and it turned out to be an okay night that ended with a very late night food run for some carne asada fries. Blahhh
